My Experiences in Public vs Private School

Image
If you were ever a student, which I assume you were, you've probably heard the stereotypes of public school kids being psychopaths, and private/homeschooled kids being weird and antisocial. As a student who has experienced both of these vastly differing worlds of education, I can verify that this is not the whole truth (partial truth. sorry, friends.)      From preschool to my freshman year of high school, I was a public school kid. As an elementary schooler, this didn't bother me one bit. Well, aside from the fact that my best friend and next door neighbor went to a charter school, and I was often annoyed by the amount of homework she got that held her back from playing with me after school. Besides that, I didn't know anything different, and it was fine. I went to three different elementary schools, which makes me sound like I committed horrible crimes at seven years old, but really it was just due to weird circumstances. In third grade, my neighborhood was rezoned

The Ultimate Semi-Helpful Grammar Extravaganza Fun Fest

I absolutely love grammar. Yes, nerdy, I know- I'm owning it. ;) I posted on my twitter (@jadynsca) asking if anyone would be interested in a post with grammar tips, and there was an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm regarding such- so here I am! This post could end up being pretty messy, but hopefully legible and helpful! First off, we'll start with misused words.  Effect vs. Affect : Simply, "effect" is a noun, and "affect" is a verb. For this one, you need to recognize the context and find out which one is correct.      Example: One effect of listening to Enya is experiencing pure bliss. Fact. (Noun)                      This heat is really affect ing me. Seriously, it's hot out. AC please. (Verb) Genius vs. Ingenious : This one is confusing, especially if you know the difference between "famous" and "infamous". No, "ingenious" is not referring to an evil scientist. "Ingenious" is used to desc

Am I Worthy of Life?

I deserve to die. "for the wages of sin is death..."                      --- Romans 6:23      So why am I alive? Am I worthy of life? Will I ever do anything to please God, to prove that I do deserve even a fraction of what He's blessed me with? The answers to those questions are in the same verse.     "...but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."                       --- Romans 6:23      That's right; FREE GIFT. So what does this mean? To me, it means three things. 1. The gift of life is free. It requires no payment, no exchange, no sacrifice. It is free. 2. The only way to receive this gift is through Jesus. Everyone living and dead has been given the gift of mortal life. However, God offers us eternal life, paid fully for by Jesus Christ (which is millions of times better). 3. We don't get to choose what others decide to do for us. It is finished; Jesus died for us. We can't tell Him not to, we

I tend to feel trapped. Not physically- I am free to leave my home, my state, my country, any time I please, and for that freedom I am thankful. No, I tend to feel trapped mentally. It's like I have this cloud of creativity, thoughts, maybe even genius all in my head, and I can't get it out. It can be absolutely maddening. I feel like an old widow who locked herself up in her old mansion and wonders why she feels so lonely. So I guess this is me opening the door.      And with that, I welcome you to my blog. My name is Jadyn. I'm currently a junior in high school suffering from chronic senioritis, a daydreamer to the point where it's probably unhealthy, a lover of cats, sushi, jasmine green tea, and Jesus. I'm also a major geek. I love Harry Potter, Narnia, all that jazz. I don't want to go on for ages about myself; you'll find out more along the way if you're interested. I personally love getting to know people, their mannerisms, interests, al
